Under this engagement, Intuitive Machines will design, build, and supply 18 state-of-the-art spacecraft platforms that will enable the next generation of space-based missile tracking. The goal is to provide persistent, real-time monitoring of advanced missile threats, including hypersonic and ballistic systems.
Intuitive Machines’ CEO, Steve Altemus, emphasized that this initiative builds on a proven track record of performance and mission trust from prior tracking-layer selections. He stated that the company is committed to delivering spacecraft platforms and the systems needed to sustain missions at scale within complex architectures, including SDA Tranche 3.
The Tranche 3 Tracking Layer enhances SDA’s ability to integrate higher-performance sensing and on-orbit data processing. This contributes to a resilient, layered space architecture offering broader global coverage and faster response for defense and allied users.
