A Beloved Classic is Back! Kings Island is Reviving a Ride That Holds Decades of Memories!
Get ready for a blast from the past because Kings Island has just announced the triumphant return of The Monster, a ride that first thrilled park-goers way back in 1968! This iconic attraction, which originally operated at Kings Island's predecessor, Coney Island, underwent a complete dismantling before the park's last season. The area where it once stood was even cordoned off, leaving many wondering about its fate.
During Kings Island’s 2025 Passholder Preview Day, the park's then-Director of Communications, Chad Showalter, shed some light on the situation. He explained that the closure was due to a delayed delivery of a crucial part. At that time, a July reopening was anticipated. However, as the season progressed, The Monster remained a silent fixture, leaving its return date uncertain.
For months, the park remained quiet regarding The Monster's status. But then, on February 3rd, Kings Island took to social media with exciting news: the classic ride is indeed making a comeback sometime this year! This announcement has undoubtedly sent waves of excitement through loyal fans who have missed this unique experience.
But here's where it gets interesting... While the park is buzzing with the news of The Monster's return, it's worth noting that the official opening for the 2026 season is set for April 18th, with a Passholder Preview Day scheduled for April 17th. This timing might raise a few eyebrows for those eager to ride The Monster as soon as possible. Will it be available on day one of the 2026 season, or will there be a staggered opening? The park hasn't specified the exact return date within the year, leaving a little mystery!
Kings Island is located at 6300 Kings Island Drive in Mason.
