A young driver is currently in critical condition following a serious accident involving a lorry in Co Tyrone this morning. According to police reports, the driver was swiftly transported to the hospital after the collision.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and ambulance crews, responded promptly to the scene of the crash which occurred on Annaghilla Road in Augher around 8:10 AM. The vehicles involved were identified as a white Audi A4 and a yellow Renault lorry.
To manage the situation, two fire engines were dispatched to the site. Initially, police closed off the road to allow emergency crews to work safely, but it has since been reopened to traffic.
PSNI Sergeant Fletcher provided an update stating, "The driver of the Audi, a man in his twenties, was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition. At this point, there are no indications that the lorry driver sustained any significant injuries."
The ongoing investigation aims to piece together the events leading to the crash, and authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who possesses dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision to reach out for further information.
